The Gaying Of The American Male:
As I peruse the news, the magazines, the commentaries and the vaunted opinions of some I am gaining a sense of something very troubling. Any male who shows attributes of maleness is being slapped down as if the natural roughness of males is an aberration and not an attribute and that they have no right to exist in their current iteration. Unless of course, they display deep guilt and humbility (humility and humbleness combined) as well as regret for their natures.
This is not an apology of sorts for inappropriate behaviors but a recognition on my part of a real sense of being maneuvered as a sex into becoming less like men and more like women. This is not about “metrosexuality” but more about an unhealthy demand that men be less than what they are and more like women or a gay equivalent of the same….It is hard to organize the kinds of words that represent this unsettled notion that I have. For me, it is akin to looking at the face of someone very familiar and realizing that something, somehow is different in a negative way.
I am becoming more and more convinced that we are being herded into an embrace of the unnatural, the aberrant, the out of kilter. If it were a smell that I was trying to describe it would be like the garbage container under the sink that is just a little off and needs to be hauled out to the outside container and a new, fresh bag to be installed. This is not a happy state that I find myself in. The sheer mass of movement in the direction of redefining males in an image that seems off is disturbing, to say the least.
We need some fresh new John Wayne type of man to come forward, speaking the unspeakable, being what he genuinely is and come hell or high-water telling the feministas to stick it where the sun don’t shine. In a courteous and well-meaning way, of course……grrr.
